Dear Minister Mah

Feedback Regarding Playgrounds In Tampines

It is a pleasure to write to you regarding the playground suggestions and how to
Improve on it. I too, like to play the playground, so I have lots of suggestions to
help improve it. Tampines, one of the biggest districts in the east, have a lot of
population and it is starting to grow more and more so I suggest building a bigger
and wider playground for more children as everytime I visit the playground,
children often have to queue up in order to play something they want like the
swing or the see-saw.

The next thing I observe is that the playground is old, dirty and rusty. What I
suggest is that maybe once a fortnight, a cleaner may be sent and clean up the
playground instead of just leaving it there forever and doing nothing to it. Also,
playgrounds should also be installed with a shelter together with it to prevent it
from getting wet when it’s raining as I have saw many children with disappointed
faces and looking very sad.

The last thing I am going to say is playgrounds should not have any sharp objects
or anything that is hard as kids nowadays love to run about and play catching and
almost everytime I see a kid getting hurt or accidentally tripping themselves and
in the end, getting their heads hitting the hard floor. Maybe the material used to
contruct the playground can be plastic instead of hard metal and the floor,
something soft can be used to reduce the impact if the children falls down. If all
the playgrounds in Tampines can be like that, parents will be more at ease and
thus, be less worried about their kids playing the playground.

I hope that you can spend some of your time reading my proposal on how to
improve the playground and take action.

Yours Faithfully,

Godric proposal to Tampines playground

Mr Mah Bow Tan
The Minister of National Development
Member of Tampines GRC

Dear minister Mah,

FEED BACK AND SUGGESTION TO IMPROVE TAMPINES PLAY GROUND.

I realized that the playground in the Tampines area does not have an area for skate boarding and sports. In my opinion, I think that this area should be built for the youths as it is their passion.

I also feel that the playground in Tampines area should also have a special sculpture like a slice of wall with bumps for climbing. Youth should go there to try the climbing instead of going to mountains. It is much safer this way The Ground should be made cushion so when the young kids fall, they will not injured themselves.

The playgrounds in Tampines are very dull. They should be built in many different colors to attract young kids to the playground. The cushions will then protect them and the adults will then not worry to place their kids at the playground. Playgrounds with cushions will really be very unique and cool. When the children slide down the slides, they will not injured themselves as there is cushion to protect them.

There should also be a shelter built as I observed that many Tampines playground does not have a shelter. When it rains, many kids will be down and sad that they cannot enjoy themselves at the playground.

So I really hope that you could really consider my proposal and take action.

Yours truly

Godric's reflection

Hi this is Godric. From this project i have learned some discipline. To be on task first, then have fun next.We faced many problems because all we had in our mind was having fun,and we were not serious about our work.I also found out that getting a group of six to meet together was not easy.we sometimes had to do our project without one or two of our members.Next time i will be wiser in choosing my group.Nevertheless we had our great times and i feel that we have done our best.

Choong Kai's reflection of the project.

Throughout this whole project,I have learned a lot of things. From planning for what to do,to finding a proper time for all of us to meet together to do the project.I realised we faced many problems.Like not focusing on our work and talking, laughing when we're suppose to do our model. We also had problem finishing due to the heavy rain and wind, which cost us to remake our model twice.Thankfully we have a lot of ice cream sticks to remake the model. From this project i have learned to concentrate more, and be more on task, and most importantly i learned how to work as a team.

THE MANY RAFFLES

Friday, May 2, 2008

wow!used materials..

Ice-cream sticks ??

styrofoam!

DAY 3

We went to the computer lab during literature to update our blog and also discuss on the model. We discussed on putting in some more features such as benches and other stuff. We also agreed to use materials such as styrofoam and ice-cream sticks. We hope that we can start doing the project as soon as we can and can finish it before the exams.

DAY 2

We have went to the computer lab during literature lesson and done some research on down syndrome. We found out that down syndrome people are people who are in their own world. They are not normal cause they have another mind of their own.So we decided to do the playground specifically for down syndrome people by adding in features that would make them happy.

The sketch of the playground is from a playground that i found in the internet. It is not as followed cause i have improvised it by adding in other stuff like for example a slide and a swing. We hope that we can follow the sketch when building it cause the sketch is a very complicated with so many structures that are not very easy to build.
